Brian Hetzel
Senior Pastor
My wife, Joan, and I have three kids, Rachael, Jacob, and Hannah. We have lived in Blue Springs for 25 years, and are very familiar with life in Eastern Jackson County.
I received my undergraduate degree in Pastoral Ministries and Elementary Education in 1986 from Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois. In 1992 I received my Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. I received training as a Missions Planter in 1998.
I have served three congregations. From 1992-1996, I served Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minnesota. From 1996 to 1999, I served as Associate Pastor of Timothy Lutheran here in Blue Springs. Then in 2000, I received and accepted a call to start a mission church in Eastern Jackson County. Pointe of Hope had it’s first public service on December 4, 2000, Approximately 110 attended that Sunday, and I have served as lead Pastor ever since.
My ministry philosophy is highly relational, creative, relevant, progressive, and practical. The idea of a spiritual family has always been important as I look at the church.
Aaron Heilman
Worship Leader
I was appointed to serve as Pointe Of Hope Church's Worship Leader Palm Sunday 2023. Prior that, I have served as Worship Leader, Worship Director, Director of Ministries and Pastor Intern at several different churches of all backgrounds and sizes around the Kansas City area over the past 10 plus years.
I believe that how we worship and why we worship has a profound impact on our connection with our Creator and our connection to each other as children of God. I am saddened by how God is largely misunderstood by so many of the people that He loves. I believe that love is a choice. It breaks my heart that so many in our world have been led to not chose to love God.
God drew me to him through music with songs like "On The Turning Away" by Pink Floyd, "I Still Haven't Found What I Am Looking For" by U2, "Heaven" by Los Lonely Boys and so many others. I spent many years playing in bar bands searching for the answers to life. After I got married and began having children, I started looking for those answers elsewhere, primarily in church praise teams, starting with Bethany Lutheran Church in Overland Park, KS
I have grown tired of churches that take themselves too seriously and end up coming off like hypocrites. This is why I love Pastor Brian and Pointe of Hope Church. What you see is what you get. We are all depending on God and each other to navigate this crazy, messed up world. We believe the Christian life is a life of joy, love and light. Like most creative people, I am young at heart and curious by nature, just like a lot of people at Pointe of Hope.
I am currently pursuing a degree in Christian Ministry at Spurgeon College. I plan to obtain an MA in Christian Counseling after that. In the meantime, I am committed to serving Jesus and His Church however I can.
I have been happily married for 22 years to my wife, Heather. We have two wonderful, slightly crazy boys: Gavin (17) and Quentin (21)
